Oshkosh Defense Begins Production of First DXPV Prototype for Netherlands

Oshkosh Defense Europe B.V. together with Oshkosh Defense, LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) business, today announced it has begun production of its first Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicle (DXPV) prototype, also known as the “Kaaiman,” for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence (MoD).

This milestone demonstrates the strategic value of an active Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) production line, enabling Oshkosh Defense to rapidly translate evolving mission requirements into advanced, production-ready capabilities for U.S. and allied customers.

Derived from the combat-proven Oshkosh JLTV, the DXPV incorporates customer informed enhancements designed to address evolving expeditionary and littoral mission requirements. Building on an existing platform enables Oshkosh Defense to accelerate delivery while providing customers with the confidence of a mature, fielded solution.

“The start of DXPV prototype production is an important step in delivering next-generation capability to the Netherlands. Just as importantly, it demonstrates the strength of an active production base and our ability to continuously evolve proven vehicle technologies to address the changing needs of our customers and their missions.”

Jeff Heggemeier, Vice President & General Manager of Oshkosh Defense

Purpose-Built Enhancements

Developed through close collaboration with customers, the DXPV incorporates enhancements including improved mobility, corrosion protection optimized for maritime environments, modular protection options, environmental upgrades, integrated mission systems, and suspension improvements that increase off-road performance and operational flexibility.

Produced on Oshkosh Defense’s active production line, the DXPV demonstrates the company’s ability to rapidly deliver customer-driven capability with a modular architecture that supports future upgrades and mission-specific configurations. The same production operations are also supporting the manufacture of JLTV-based Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) vehicles to meet an urgent customer need. Together, these efforts demonstrate Oshkosh Defense’s ability to execute multiple customer priorities while maintaining exceptional quality and schedule performance.

“Production readiness matters.

ecause we’re building on a mature platform from an active production line, we can move from concept to prototype much faster than traditional vehicle development. That allows us to deliver capability quickly while maintaining the quality and reliability our customers expect.”

Jeff Heggemeier, Vice President & General Manager of Oshkosh Defense

Supporting Modern Expeditionary Operations

As allied nations continue to modernize their fleets, the DXPV demonstrates how Oshkosh Defense can evolve trusted platforms like the JLTV to meet changing operational requirements while reducing development timelines and lifecycle risk. The program reflects Oshkosh Defense’s ability to transition efficiently from development to production. This approach enables customers to field new capabilities while preserving the reliability and performance of a platform already proven in service.
