SIG SAUER AG is exceptionally pleased to announce that armasuisse (the Swiss Federal Office for Defence Procurement) has selected the P320 pistol as the Swiss Armed Forces’ new official sidearm.
This significant contract award is a powerful endorsement of Swiss defense industry capability and represents a crucial milestone for our facility in Neuhausen am Rheinfall.

Leveraging SIG SAUER’s extensive network, which includes hundreds of suppliers across all regions of the country, all relevant components for the new service pistol can be entirely manufactured and serviced within Switzerland. This deep domestic integration and resulting high, sustainable value creation guarantee uncompromised quality, robust supply chain security, and rapid production availability for the Swiss military.
“We are proud and grateful for the confidence that armasuisse has placed in us. This decision fortifies Switzerland as an industrial base and is a tremendous motivator for our entire team in Neuhausen am Rheinfall. We are committed to working with the utmost precision and dedication to reliably meet the Army’s requirements and deliver a highly dependable, safe product to our troops.”
Pasquale Caputi, CEO of SIG SAUER AG
The new Swiss service pistol seamlessly combines modern technology, high durability, and precision handling—embodying the spirit of Swissness, quality, and a long industrial tradition right here on the Rhine Falls. The technical and ergonomic modifications requested following troop field-testing will be comprehensively implemented.
The entire team in Neuhausen looks forward to executing this vital project and expanding our collaboration with armasuisse and the Swiss Army.
The new SIG Sauer P320 is to replace the previous standard pistol of the Swiss Armed Forces. The SIG P220 (Pistol 75) was introduced around 50 years ago and since then has been used in large numbers.
