The Finnish Defence Forces Logistic Command has placed an order for Fire Control Thermal Sights (FCTS) from Senop Oy. The value of the order with the procurement provision is about 3 million euros and FCTS-weapon sights will be delivered during years 2021 and 2022.
FCTS is multi-functional weapon sight for use on crew served weapons, like automatic grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. It can also be used with vehicle mounted weapon systems. FCTS consist of uncooled thermal sight, laser range finder, GPS, IMU, digital magnetic compass and ballistic computer.
FCTS increases first hit probability, lethality and reduces gunner fatigue. The gunner has to measure the distance to the target. Then the ballistic computer calculates the aiming point using distance to target, ammunition’s ballistic tables, temperature, and measured terrain angle. After having aiming crosshair, gunner moves it on the target and fires. Ballistic calculation reduces tremendous the time to hit the target. FCTS can also program 40mm Airburst ammunitions.
