The Portuguese Air Force (FAP) is set to become the launch customer for the Embraer A-29N Super Tucano NATO-standard aircraft, with the initial delivery of the light attack aircraft scheduled for this year.
The turboprop aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge SOVERON AR airborne software defined radios (SDR) from Rohde & Schwarz, developed to provide reliable and secure radio communications links in challenging environments.
The SOVERON AR SDR family transceiver, designed to be fully operational in difficult environments and interoperable within a network-centric environment, will enable the transfer of data, voice, and navigation information between widely dispersed elements in real-time.
The A-29N Super Tucano will be equipped with up to two R&S®MR6000R VHF/UHF airborne transceivers of the SOVERON AR SDR family, which offer integrated frequency hopping methods, HAVE QUICKII, and SATURN. In addition, the R&S SECOS algorithm provides COMSEC and TRANSEC capabilities and is embedded in the radio system.
