Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract to supply a European customer with artillery ammunition. The order is worth a figure in the mid-double-digit million-euro range.
Delivery of the ammunition is to take place in 2023 and 2024. The contract is one of a recent series of ammunition orders for infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks. The latest order underscores once again Rheinmetall’s expertise in manufacturing ammunition for military customers. Moreover, the Group has the capacity to supply large amounts of ammunition at short notice.
The Düsseldorf-based tech enterprise is one of the world’s top makers of weapon and ammunition systems. Its product portfolio extends from medium-calibre ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles and air defence systems to tank and artillery shells and high-energy laser applications. Rheinmetall is currently building a new production facility for 35mm medium-calibre ammunition at its Unterluess site in Lower Saxony, which will let it meet the current increase in demand for air defence munitions starting in summer 2023.
