With the handover of the 15,000th MG5 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) to Robin Kettel, the Project Manager for Machine Guns at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw), the framework agreement concluded in 2013 between the Federal Government and Heckler & Koch has reached another significant milestone.
The framework contract stipulates the delivery of up to 22,672 MG5s to the German Armed Forces. The delivery of this milestone model underscores the trusted and reliable partnership between the German Armed Forces and Heckler & Koch – as well as the clear commitment to Germany’s and Europe’s security policy responsibilities.
“The MG5, like few other systems, stands for innovation, precision, and reliability under all operational conditions. We are proud to be able to equip the soldiers of the German Armed Forces with a high-performance and modern system – developed and manufactured in Germany.
The delivery of the 15,000th MG5 demonstrates that we are a dependable partner for our customers, even in complex large-scale projects. Our commitment is to deliver the highest quality in every phase – from development to manufacturing and delivery.”
Marco Geißinger, Chief Sales Officer of Heckler & Koch
